BOOOOOOO RAIN!

It's raining again. I hate rain. And I didn't wear my rain boots today because the sun was out when I left this morning. I have been foiled again by Mother Nature!!! And I apparently missed a double rainbow.

Hated it!!!!

127 Hours: Grade- B

The most recent movie that I have viewed was the charming James Franco's "127 Hours".  It wasn't the BEST movie I have ever seen, but it kept me engaged. Engaged in the - "Oh God I can't look, is he seriously doing that? It's just a movie, it's just a movie.... Ah wait, it's a true story!" intense kind of way.  James Franco was convincing and the story was compelling. (Everyone knows it by now right?) A lot of good lessons can be taken and I loved the message of it.... I think I heard it somewhere once before....

I'm not the first person to make this connection am I?

Man I wish this show was still on.

I <3 James Franco.

Moral of the story: See this movie.

Ah, Derby. . . The Happiest Time of Year

Smell that? It's the smoke of fireworks.

Oh wait, smell that? MMM it's funnel cakes and corn dogs?

Could it be? Is that Mint and Bourbon. . . Together??

No, no, that's grass.... and horse poop.

Yup it's Derby. . .

Nothing jazzes me up more than knowing Derby is right around the corner. Maybe because it kicks off my birth month, or maybe it's because the whole world watches my AWESOME city for a whole day, but I just love it. For the first time in years I will not be going to the races that fine day in May. My pocketbook and rationalization skills have gotten the best of me and I'm not going, but oh how will I miss it. . . .

My friends are taking a party bus this year. After the success of last year's shenanigans, I'd expect nothing less!

I will be sitting at home, watching those 2 minutes with jealousy, but there's always next year! Right...??? Ughh... this is supposed to be about things that make me happy. Chin up! I'll probably still be placing a bet so any insider info will be welcomed... even though I'll probably go with the horse with the best name- I'm a girl. Duh.

And now for some shameless promotion: The Secretariat team will be at the Derby this year, signing autographs and visiting with fans. Ron Turcotte (jockey), Penny Chenery (owner), and Charlie Davis (attendant) will all be in attendance. Make sure you try to get to see them! Great people :) Go to http://www.secretariat.com/ for more information and for some great Derby memorabilia! Love this new print!
Everyone have fun and be safe! Cheers!

American Idol- Haley Rocks My Face Off

I have had a fairweather relationship with American Idol for about mmm 6 years now.  We are "on" this season thus far, and it's going pretty well despite the nauseating judges (at times) and the awkward performances (see Stefano "Closer")

In the end, what is really making me love this season is Haley Reinhart.  Her voice is unbelievable. I mean I try to sing Adele, like REALLY try, and it turns out disappointing at every stop light.  (I'm also not trained at all so that may have a difference, but that's neither here nor there.)
When I watch Idol, I cheer for the performer who I want to listen to post-Idol.  And then pray that if they do make it they don't get stuck singing cheesy songs for the very crucial beginning of their career. . . Haley did NOT impress me for the first few shows of the Top 12 but now that she's found her inner bluesi-ness, I gotta say, she is "In it to win it!" If she goes home tonight I will be upset. She's what keeps me watching! Go Haley!
